Great tour and a wonderful guide. If you visit Pittsburgh... then be sure to reserve time in your calendar for this wonderfu excursion.
Went for a city tour today and it was amazing! Russel was great and gave us a detailed history of Pittsburgh! We really enjoyed the tour and learned a lot about Pittsburgh signature buildings. Would definitively recommend!
This tour was amazing! Russell truly cares about Pittsburgh and it’s history. For 90 minutes he takes you all the way around the city and shows you buildings if historical importance. I would definitely do this tour again and will tell all my friends that when they’re in Pittsburgh they should do this tour as well!
Our daughter has been at Pitt for three years and we have never taken this tour—boy, we didn’t know what we were missing! It was cold out but Russel’s informative and often funny storytelling of Pittsburgh’s complex history made us focus on the stories and not the cold!

My husband and I are recent transplants to Pittsburgh and booked this tour to take a friend on who was visiting us. We thought it would be interesting to her—which it was—but even better it GREATLY expanded our understanding of the city and deepened our appreciation for it. Even though the tour itself was just downtown, Russell told us all about the city, so we now have a picture of this area from 1000s of years ago to the present day. Russell was clear, enthusiastic, walked at the perfect pace. Whenever there was an interesting building, he had something to say. He's a great storyteller. I'm excited to bring future visitors on the tour!
Super interesting tour with an awesome tour guide! I visited a friend in Pittsburgh in February and decided to book this tour to get to know the city a bit better. It was pouring rain but that did not stop Russell from giving an awesome tour. I feel like learned a lot during this tour. Russell knows a lot about the city, not just about the history but he also gave great recommendations on where to eat typical Pittsburgh food - and even taught me how to speak with a Pittsburgh accent! Overall a very fun tour which I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Pittsburgh.

I really enjoyed the free walking tour on a snowy January weekend. Although, the weather was not beneficial, we had such a great time. I can recommend everyone visiting or living in Pittsburgh to learn more about the SteelCity and its history at this free walking tour.
What a brilliant tour guide! Never done one of these and we were in such capable hands. Our guide was so knowledgeable and easy to listen to, you could tell the passion was true. Would thouroughly recommend to anyone visiting Pittsburgh; this tour is a must.
Was surprised at first to find a free or “pay what you can” tour for my fiancé and I. This was such an awesome experience and gave us more than enough knowledge to walk away with. Saw some of the oldest and historic places in DT and dove into the true spirit of Pittsburgh. Duration of the tour was perfect as well. I would definitely recommend for anyone in the area looking for any type of tour! Russell was very professional and informative the entire time! 10 of 10 would recommend!

On our first trip to Pittsburgh we found this tour and jumped at the opportunity at a guided tour of the city! We met Russell and walked through the business district for an hour and learned about some of the history, development and architecture of the area. Proceeded to a three hour driving tour and visited the Strip District, Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh University, Oakland and took a trip up one of the inclines. Russell was a fantastic guide. He offered many historical and interesting facts about the early and current days living in Pittsburgh. I recommend this tour to anyone wanting a thorough tour of the city. Thanks again to Russell.

Russell has given me an unforgettable time in Pittsburg. I enjoyed the best views, learned a lot about Pittsburg, saw great places, waved Amish and visited the wonderful Fallingwater. I can only recommend his tours to everyone that is planning to visit Pittsburgh. Ask for an individual tour, especially if you have little time and would like to see as many as you can. Thanks, Thanks, Thanks Russell for the great days and beautiful music.

So, I grew up in a suburb of Pittsburgh and thought I knew the city. Russel helped me to discover new reasons to move and miss Pittsburgh. (I now live in Scottsdale, AZ). He is open to answering questions and exploring ideas you have from seeing the greatness of this city. Check this tour our, tip him well...crafts like this is what makes this country and city GREAT! Have fun!

Russel was very enthusiastic and in love with the city of Pittsburgh and had a lot of interesting facts to tell us. We learned quite a lot about the city, its founders, and its architecture that we otherwise would have not known walking about on our own. Recommend it if you enjoy walking tours!
Russell was a wonderful tour guide. I learned quite a lot about the history of Pittsburgh from it's early settlement to the present, and I enjoyed the walk around the downtown area of the city. We started at Point Park and finished in Market Square, a great spot to grab a beer and a burger. I will recommend Russell's tour to all my friends who visit Pittsburgh. Absolutely worth the time!
This 90-minute walking tour is informative, fun, and a perfect thing to do if you want to get to know this interesting city a bit more. Russell kept the energy up, provided a history lesson, included many fun facts, and took me past many buildings and sights I would have otherwise ignored. A perfect introduction to Pittsburgh. Thank you Russell!

We recently moved to Pgh and both of our families came to visit for Thanksgiving. Our private tour with Russell was so much fun, and appealed to everyone from our siblings to our 90-year-old grandmother. We highly recommend this to visitors and yinzers alike!
My 10 year old niece and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Russell's knowledge and use of technology made for a well rounded experience. I've taken walking tours in Boston, NYC, and Williamsburg. My Pittsburgh tour has just topped my list.
Even though we are from Pittsburgh, we greatly enjoyed the tour of our beloved hometown. Russell provided a great summary of the city's history and added many fun facts. I highly recommend Free Pittsburgh Walking Tours for your next visit to the 'Burgh!
